Who we are
C IN C® (Circular Interconnected Neighbourhood Cities) is an independent research, design and applied innovation platform based in Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. C IN C® is a registered trademark of B Singh.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, the data controller responsible for your personal information is B Singh, founder of C IN C®.
What we collect
When you join the guest list
- Name and email address (required).
- Organisation, role or field and city or region, if you choose to give them.
- The description that best fits your City Maker work, and the areas you are interested in.
- A record of your consent: the date and time you agreed, and the wording you agreed to.
When you receive our emails
Our email service may record whether an email was delivered, opened or a link clicked. We use this only in summary, to understand what is useful to people.
When you contact us
If you email us, we keep your message, your contact details and our reply so that we can help you.
We do not ask for, and ask you not to send, sensitive information such as health details, political opinions or religious beliefs.
Why we use it
UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use of personal information. Ours are set out below.
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Send you updates on research, gatherings, C IN C Events and workshops, matched to the interests you chose | Consent. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email or by contacting us. |
| Understand who the network includes, by sector and place, in summary form | Legitimate interests in shaping our research and events. We only look at totals, never individual profiles. |
| Reply to your enquiries | Legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us. |
| Keep a record of consent and of people who have unsubscribed | Legal obligation and legitimate interests, so that we can show consent was given and never email you again after you opt out. |
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions about you.
Transfers outside the UK
Brevo stores the guest list in the European Union, which UK law recognises as giving adequate protection. Netlify, our website host, is based in the United States. Where its technical logs are handled outside the UK, they are protected by the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Guest list details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We review the list every two years and remove people who have not opened an email in that time.
- Unsubscribe record: your email address only, kept so that we never contact you again.
- Enquiries: up to two years after our last contact, unless we need them longer for an ongoing project.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- See the information we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
- Delete your information.
- Restrict or object to how we use it, including where we rely on legitimate interests.
- Receive your information in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
To use any of these rights, email contact@cincnetwork.com. It is free, and we will reply within one month.
Keeping it secure
We use services with strong security and encryption, limit access to the guest list to the people who run C IN C®, and use two-factor sign-in on the accounts that hold it. If a breach ever put your information at risk, we would tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office where the law requires it.
The guest list is intended for people aged 16 and over.
Changes and complaints
We will update this notice if how we use information changes, and show the new date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell people on the guest list by email.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so that we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator:
