What this covers
This statement covers the C IN C® website, including the home page, the guest-list form, the privacy notice and this page. It does not cover external sites we link to, such as the Taylor & Francis page for our published paper or our social media profiles.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the internationally recognised standard for accessible websites.
The website is partially compliant with that standard. The parts that do not yet comply are listed under Known issues.
What you can do
You should be able to:
- Use a keyboard to reach every link, button and form field, in a logical order, with a visible outline showing where you are.
- Zoom text and pages up to 400% without content being cut off, and use the site on a phone in either orientation.
- Use a screen reader. Pages have a clear heading structure, images have text descriptions, and the world map is accompanied by a written list of every city on it.
- Read comfortably. Text meets the recommended contrast against its background, and body text is set in a clear, open typeface.
- Turn off motion. The logo animation lasts about two seconds and plays once. If your device is set to reduce motion, you will see the still logo instead.
- Fill in the guest-list form with every field clearly labelled, required fields marked, and errors explained in words, not colour alone.
AbilityNet's My Computer My Way explains how to make your own device easier to use.
Known issues
We know about the following problems and are fixing them:
- Search: the search icon in the header does not yet do anything.
- Text in images: the illustration at the top of the home page contains the words "Cities are stronger in between" and "Sustainable urban living" on a noticeboard. Both are included in the image's text description. The journal cover is an image of the published cover; its details are also given in text beside it.
- Pop-up form: the pop-up version of the guest-list form has not yet been tested with screen readers.
Before publishing: remove each item above once it is fixed, and update the review date.
How we tested
We last checked this website on 29 September 2026. We:
- measured the colour contrast of every text and form-field colour against WCAG 2.2 AA;
- checked page language, heading structure, image descriptions and form labels;
- moved through each page using only a keyboard;
- viewed each page on desktop, tablet and phone widths.
We have not yet carried out a full audit with screen-reader users. We will do so as the site grows.
Getting help
If you cannot use part of this website, need information in a different format such as large print, plain text or audio, or want to report a problem, please contact us:
Tell us the page, what you were trying to do and the device or assistive technology you were using. We aim to reply within five working days.
If you are not happy with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
What we are improving
We review accessibility whenever we add new pages or features, and at least once a year. Our next steps are to make search and the social links work, and to test the site with people who use screen readers and other assistive technology.
